First Pages Webinar with Amy Cloud: Submission Instructions

On August 13, we are hosting a webinar with special guest, editor Amy Cloud of Aladdin/Simon and Schuster. As you already know, Amy will be giving feedback on first pages. But you still need instructions on how to get your first pages in to be considered, no?

Then this post is for you.

Here’s how to submit your first page for the webinr:

1. Register for this webinar (if you haven’t already) by clicking HERE. Only first pages from registrants will be considered.

2. Email your first page (250 words or less) to nerdychickswrite (at) gmail (dot) com with this subject line: FRSTPGSAC811

It is very important that you use that exact subject line because that is how we will filter out the first page submissions from the hundreds of other emails that we get in a day!

ALL FIRST PAGES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 11:59pm EST ON AUGUST 10, 2014

3. Join us for the webinar at 9PM ET on August 13!

Remember, do not paste your first pages into the comments here or on the Kidlit Summer School Facebook Page — email it with the specific subject line above or else it won’t get included!

Are you excited??

  1. May picture book writers submit their first 250 words, too (which may be the entire manuscript) or is this mostly for writers for older kids?

I have the same question–is this for pb writers, also? I read an interview of Amy, and it sounds like she doesn’t do pbs. ??

I was also wondering if/how this would apply to a picture book manuscript? It sounds like it will be great, either way! 🙂

I know we can learn from any genre and would gain from the webinar… but do you want pb submissions? If so… first page only (word limit)?… or 250 words from the manuscript? Thanks.

  11. SO excited. Remember when Kristen Wiig on SNL played that super excited character named Sue who ran into walls when she was FREAKIN’ excited? Yeah, I pretty much just dented a wall. 🙂

  15. This webinar will be a great learning experience no matter what genre we write! Amy has worked with picture book authors David Kirk (Miss Spider books) and Madonna. I’m excited Amy likes slightly offbeat characters, relatable protagonists, and a healthy dose of humor 😀
